Life Without Money: Building Fair and Sustainable Economies is a newly published Pluto Press book. Join Derek Wall (Green Party councillor, former Principal Speaker for the Green Party and author of Babylon and Beyond, The Rise of the Green Left) in conversation with visiting editor of Life Without Money, Associate Professor Anitra Nelson (RMIT University, Australia) and contributor Adam Buick (regularly published in the Socialist Standard) at Bolivar Hall, 54 Grafton Way, London W1T 5DL. Come and participate in a stimulating discussion on why we, as a society, need to go money-free and how we might do it.

Money or socialism? panel with Frans Timmerman and Anitra Nelson at the two-day Australasian Historical Materialism conference. This session will focus on leftist controversies surrounding key points in the first four chapters of Life Without Money: i.e. the revolutionary significance of consciously thinking and acting on the basis of use values rather than exchange values; problems caused by retaining money in a transition to socialism; the revolutionary potential of an autonomist Marxist position of refusing to work; and, acknowledging money as a tool of power (rather than efficiency) and organising principle of capitalism.

'Degrowth and Money: Future Scenarios Symposium' led by Anitra Nelson at the International Degrowth in the Americas Conference in Monteal, Quebec, Canada (Université de Montréal, Pavillon 3200 Jean-Brillant B3265 — see symposium brief, R011). An opportunity for participants to learn about the ideas in the book and create scenarios for degrowth in non-monetary and monetary ways (employing mainstream money and/or alternative currencies/monies).

'Degrowth equals regrowth: A discussion of Eduardo Galeano's work' paper by Anitra Nelson at the International Degrowth in the Americas Conference in Monteal, Quebec, Canada (HEC Montréal, L’Oréal Canada — see paper, R043). This paper discusses the nature of degrowth in the context of the missing chapter in Life Without Money — a chapter based on numerous extracts from Eduardo Galeano's voluminous work was to be included but withdrawn from proposed publication due to copyright issues.

Panel chaired by Joel Kovel with Paul Mattick (Adelphi University), Caroline Woolard (Our Goods, NY), Mary Mellor (Northumbria University), Ariel Salleh (University of Sydney, and contributor to Life Without Money) and co-editors Anitra Nelson (Visiting Scholar at the New School) and Frans Timmerman.
